We know you have many choices of activities for your young child. Here's why we think Music Together® is the best choice:
From birth to age 5, a child’s brain develops more, and more rapidly, than at any other time in life and the quality of a child’s experiences in the first few years of life helps shape how the brain develops. In early childhood, these experiences have a lasting impact on a child's health and ability to learn and succeed in school and in life. The Music Together curriculum was created based on research in music education and early childhood development in order to provide positive experiences that support a child's overall development in these crucial early years.
One of the primary goals of Music Together classes is to develop basic music competency - the ability to sing in tune and to move and sing with rhythmic accuracy. This is important because it gives children the skills to participate in the music of their culture with confidence throughout their life.
The effects of music on children are magical. Music can be both energizing and calming, and it can enhance bonding and help with transitions. Anyone who has sung a fussy child to sleep knows that music “hath charms to soothe a savage beast.” And as you’ve undoubtedly discovered while trying to wrestle your little savage into their clothes, singing to make the process fun also makes it a whole lot easier!
You'll discover a new place for music in your life, regardless of your own musical ability. Music play will become a regular part of daily life, during play-time, dinnertime, bedtime, or travel time. Yes, you can become a musical family!
Grownups enjoy Music Together classes as much as kids do! Our no-work, all-play classes give families time to relax and have fun together, a gift for busy parents and caregivers who have fewer and fewer opportunities for family time. Our classes strengthen bonds between families, too. Sharing experiences that touch the heart brings everyone closer as a community.
